Spotty, Dotty, Collab!

Finally! Lene is back online! Not that she has been counting but it has been 11 Days and 12 hours with technical problems and no internet! Well lets celebrate her return with a collaboration we have been working on. I love dotticures and I love lipstick, which got me to thinking, what about a dotty lipstick?

So after a few attempts I found the right technique and created a dotty gradient lip look. I was so pleased with myself, I headed right over to our little group chat and challenged Lene to recreate this as nail art. Lene being the nail art whiz that she is, recreated it perfectly! She even made a video tutorial if you want to recreate the look yourself.

I used the following products to create this lip look:

  • Benefit Boi-ing Concealer shade 1 “Light”,
  • Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick “Celebrity Skin”,
  • Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick “Redrum” and
  • Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick “Unicorn Blood”
  • Illamasqua Precision Ink Liquid Eyeliner “Scribe”
  • Nail Art Dotting Tool

As I was only playing around I did not photograph the steps but the look is relatively simple.

Photo watermarked with iWatermark for iOS.

Firstly I used the Benefit Boi-oing Concealer as a base for this look. I had tried it with a full lipstick base but it just did not look right. Then using “Celebrity Skin” I dotted the centers of my lips using a nail art dotting tool. I chose to use a very thin one that made the dots uneven on my skin as I wanted to get a lazy pointillism feel. Then using the same lazy, jabbing, dotting movements I put “Scribe in the center section of my lips. I then repeated with “Redrum” moving from the edge of the white out towards the corners. I made to overlap the colours so that they merged to create the gradient. Finally I used “Unicorn Blood” to shad the corners, the bottom of my top lip and the bottom center of my bottom lip. Then all I did was clean up the edges with concealer.

To create her nail look Lene used:

  • Echoes Polish “Mauve Over”
  • Zoya “Spencer”
  • H&M “Dark Red”
  • Masglo “Tiza”
  • Depend “174”
  • Calligraphy Brush
